Description: The Catawba materials in the Frank Siebert Papers are primarily concentrated in Series II. These consist of copies of secondary sources such as an "Indian Vocabulary from Fort Christanna, 1716, Catawba census notes, 1830-1929, land claim agreements, and a dictionary of Place names in South Carolina. Original materials include hundreds of pages of Siebert's FIeld notes and a Catawba vocabulary / dictionary done with Wes Taukchiray. There are also 14 sound recordings made with Sally Gordon in Series XII.

Description: Haas' Cherokee file is centered on her fieldwork in Oklahoma with Watt Sam and Nancy Raven, both Natchez speakers who also spoke Cherokee and Creek. Although Creek was the dominant intermediary language between Natchez and English for both of Haas' Natchez consultants, some Cherokee lexica and verb paradigms were recorded in the Natchez notebooks of Series 2. There is also a small amount of Cherokee material in Victor Riste's notebooks in the same Natchez subseries. Series 9 contains lexica, paradigms, phonotactics, and dialectal variation, likely mostly derived from these sources. Besides these, there are some discussions of Cherokee town names and consultants in Series 1, and a few comparisons to Iroquoian and Muskogean languages.

Description: Beginning with fieldwork in around 1959-1960 with Marie de Soto at Santa Barbara, California, Bright continued to collected materials in Chumashan languages and villages throughout his life. Correspondence on “Hispanisms” (Spanish borrowings into Native languages, Series 1, and the card file in Series 5) is also of note.

Description: The Ditidaht materials in the ACLS collection are found in the "Nitinat" section of the finding aid. The bulk of the material consists of field notebooks (item W2b.2, "Nitinat field notebooks") recorded by Mary Haas and Morris Swadesh primarily from Chief Peter (Batlisqawa) and his son Jasper of Port Renfrew in 1931. The notebooks include numerous texts of traditional stories, histories, autobiographical stories, and other content including place names, vocabularies, and grammatical notes. A full table of contents of these notebooks is available. An extensive lexical file of over 6700 terms, derived from these field notebooks, is also found in this collection as item W2b.1, "Nitinat lexical file". See the Ditidaht materials in the Mary Rosamond Haas Papers (Mss.Ms.Coll.94) for additional notebooks and photographs recorded during this fieldwork.

Description: Part of a collection comprised of religious and linguistic materials in various Native American languages. Many were written by Jesuit missionaries of New France. These particular items include an unattributed 1847 letter, in French, on the etymology of some Personal names; a word list obtained at Sault St. Louis, with a note on provenance, attributed to de Lorimier, possibly the French-Haudenosaunee interpreter and agent Jean-Baptiste de Lorimier or one of his relations; and the 1755 "Livre des prieres, cantiques, et himnes en langue hyroquois telles qu'on se sont maintenant a la Mission du Lac des Deux Montagnes," containing various notes added to an original manuscript on plain chant, carols, articles preliminary to the peace of Versailles in 1783, description of a serpent killed at Chateau Ste. Anne, recipes, remedies, etc. Originals in Laval University, Seminaire de Quebec.

Description: The K'ómoks materials in the ACLS collection consist of several items relating to the Island Comox dialect, located in multiple sections of the finding aid. The primary material is in the "Comox" section of the finding aid, where there are two items recorded by Franz Boas. From 1890, there is "Comox-Satlolk materials" (item S2j.2) in German and English with Comox vocabulary and text with interlinear German translation, along with Satlolk-English vocabulary. "Comox and Pentlatch texts" (item S2j.1) contains texts with interlinear translations, most typed up from earlier fieldwork. In the "Pentlatch" section, "Pentlatch materials" (item S2j.3) contains 1 page of miscellaneous Island Comox sentences. In the "Salish" section, "Comparative vocabularies of eight Salishan languages" (S.1) includes Comox vocabulary derived from fieldwork and compared with other Salish languages. Finally, in the "Kwakiutl" section of the finding aid, "Maps of Vancouver Island and mainland, with Kwakiutl place names" (item W1a.11) includes some maps with Comox place names. "Kwakiutl ethnographic materials" (item 31) includes small amounts of occasional reference to Comox matters pertaining to their relations with the southern Kwakwaka'wakw tribes.
