Also includes recordings of performances by the Comanche Tuhwi Society, Kiowa Black Legs Society, Kiowa Scalp & Victory Dance Songs, Kiowa children's songs, and some Kiowa folklore. Recorded by William C. Meadows in various locations in Oklahoma in 1992 and 1993. Description: The Inuit materials in the ACLS collection consist of several items in the "Eskimo" section of the finding aid. The core materials are Boas' fieldwork materials from Baffinland in 1883, his first fieldwork trip. "Eskimo ethnographic notes from Baffinland" (item 26) includes vocabulary, texts, and ethnographic notes. "Eskimo texts" (item E1a.1) includes several text written in syllabic script, and includes other texts as well, some with interlinear translations, and additional vocabulary lists. This material comes from Hamilton Inlet (Labrador), Hudson Bay, and Cumberland Sound. "Eskimo interlinear texts" (item E1a.2) includes brief additional texts. Boas' "Eskimo lexicon" (item E1a.3) consists of an extensive German-Inuit vocabulary file of over 2900 slips. Boas' "Eskimo Songs" (item E1a.4) consists of song texts with translations. Lastly, "Eskimo folklore" (item 32) consists of materials on stories, customs, and cooking and building methods, sent to Boas by George Comer, largely from the Southampton Island and Repulse Bay region. A table of contents of the Comer materials is available upon request.

Description: The Iñupiat materials in the Floyd G. Lounsbury Papers consists of two recordings of songs performed by singers from Point Hope, Alaska, originally recorded by Red McCloud of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at Aklavik, Northwest Territories in 1947 or 1948.. The singers are not identified on the recording or in any accompanying documentation. Gillespie re-recorded them by playing them off an original phonograph recording on to a wire recording. Sound quality is poor. This program was made as part of a wire recording sent to Floyd Lounsbury by John W. Gillespie, containing recordings made by himself and excerpts of other field recordings he had acquired. Includes Gillespie's commentary made in 1950. This recording is found in "Series VII: Audio recordings" in the collection guide, on a larger recording titled "Gillespie: Wyandot."

Description: Audio recordings of Haudenosaunee speeches, ceremonies, and songs, recorded by William Fenton. The records are copies made at the Library of Congress from original field recordings made on a Presto Disk Recorder. Discs 1-4, recorded at Six Nations of the Grand River in 1945, consist of recordings of the Condolence Ceremony, demonstrated by Alexander General (Deskaheh) and David Thomas. Discs 5-10, recorded at Allegany in 1941, contain songs relating to the Little Water Medicine Society, sung by Chauncey Johnny John. Disc 11, recorded at Allegany in 1945, contains recordings of Drum Dance and Corn Dance sung by Chauncey Johnny John and Albert Jones. Disc 12-14, recorded at Six Nations of the Grand River in 1945 and 1948, consist of a variety of mostly social dance songs. The majority of this collection consists of culturally sensitive recordings for which reproduction and remote access is restricted.

Description: The Kaska materials in the ACLS Collection consists of two printed maps of British Columbia and adjacent regions with extensive handwritten annotations by James Teit, showing his understanding of Indigenous territories at the time. Kaska areas are noted among these. The two maps are titled, "Map showing as near as possible Location of the Shuswap Tribe and Divisions, with approximate Boundaries of neighboring Tribes" and Map (3) showing present or late and also former distributions of northern tribes. In addition, the item "Songs from the Salish area" contains typewritten and handwritten notes on 80+ songs recording on wax cylinders, collected for and sent to the National Museum of Canada, among which some are Kaska.
