Description: 1702 letter from James Logan to William Penn regarding Indian trade, mentioning Senecas; 1741 letter regarding Seneca delegation en route to Philadelphia; 1743 letter from the "king of the Senecas" to the Governor of Maryland asking that treaty be in late April or early May; that land grievances be postponed to then; that Indians not be held responsible for behavior of renegades with disreputable Scotch-Irish from Pennsylvania in Virginia;that Virginia governor give pass to Senecas to permit war parties to go south.

Description: The most significant item in William Bright's small Tongva file is correspondence with Raleigh H. Levine (Series 1), concerning interpretations of a J. P. Harrington manuscript for a tribal land rights case. Extensive correspondence with Pamela Munro between the 1990s and 2000s includes a small amount of linguistic discussion on Tongva. There are also vocabularies from J. P. Harrington in Bright's research (Series 4) and a publication by the Malki Museum Press (Series 2).

Description: This entry covers materials not otherwise covered by other entries relating to the Anthony Wallace Papers. Researchers are advised to see also the other entries devoted to specific cultural groups, Of particular interest will be Series II. Research Notes and Drafts, particularly Subseries A. Indian Research, which contains correspondence, notes and drafts from Wallace's research among the Seneca and Tuscarora. Some overlapping Native American material is in Subseries B. Revitalization and Culture. Also of particular interest will be Series IX. Indian Claims, which contains Wallace's work (with his research assistant Michal Lowenfels Kane) as an expert witness for several Native American land claims, including those of Creek, Dakota (Sioux), Delaware, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Iowa, Kickapoo, Meskwaki (Fox, Sac and Fox, or Sauk and Fox), Miami, Muckleshoot, Oto-Missouri, Pawnee, Shawnee, and Wyandot peoples. Another concentration of materials can be found in Series VII. Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and pertain to Wallace's study of "arctic hysteria" (piblokto) among Greenland Inuit. Subseries B. U.S.-Soviet Commission on Anthropology of Series VI. Consulting and Committee Work also contains items on arctic populations.
