Description: Mary Haas did not conduct her own fieldwork on Chitimacha, but amassed sizeable lexica from Morris Swadesh, mostly used for comparisons with Muskogean languages and linguistic isolates under the “Gulf” hypothesis. One especially large instance of comparison involving Chitimacha is an 1821-word long English-Natchez-Chitimacha word list, partially filled, in Series 2 Subseries Natchez. The majority of the comparative lexica are slip files, in Series 9. Besides this, of particular interest is sheet music of several Chitimacha songs, untitled, likely from Delphine Ducloux, in Series 2 Subseries Chitimacha. Haas also published an article on clans and kinship terminology with Natchez comparisons, notes and discussions of which are in Series 4 Subseries 3.

Description: The C. F. Voegelin Papers contain correspondence, card files, notes, notebooks, texts, translations, drafts, articles, maps, and other linguistic and ethnographic materials relating to Delaware (Lenape) language and culture. Many of these items pertain to Voegelin's "Walam Olum or Red Score: The Migration Legend of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians," published by the Indiana Historical Society in 1954. Such materials are located in primarily in Subcollection I. There is relevant correspondence with Charles Hockett (with questions about Voegelin's article on Delaware and examples from other Algonquian languages), Eli Lilly (regarding various aspects of the Walam Olum, its interpretation and publication), Kenneth E. Pearson (regarding use of Delaware language in Boy Scout ceremonies), John N. Seaman (regarding language consultant Willy Longbone), Frank Siebert (regarding Walam Olum, Munsee materials, language consultants Willy Longbone, Nicodemus Peters, and Nicholas Powless), Morris Swadesh (including a brief Stockbridge vocabulary and a slip of Moravian Delaware), and John Witthoft (regarding Walam Olum) in Series I. Description: Mary Haas' Makah file appears to be mostly derived from work by William Jacobsen, who frequently assisted Haas with developing her collection throughout her life. These include correspondence (Series 1 and 2) and parts of lexica, often compared with Ditidaht and Nuu-chah-nulth especially. The largest lexicon is in Series 9, from work by Leo Frachtenberg and Morris Swadesh, at around 1000 slips.

Description: Mary Haas' Nuu-chah-nulth (“Nootka”) file is extensive, with the majority of the volume being several thousand index cards of lexica in Series 9, including comparison with especially Ditidaht. Haas' first fieldtrip was with Morris Swadesh in the early 1930s to document Ditidaht songs, and Ditidaht frequently appears alongside Nuu-chah-nulth across the entire collection, as well as featuring briefly in a notebook from that early fieldtrip (Series 2). Much of the remaining material is directly from Morris Swadesh and Edward Sapir in the dedicated Series 2 Subseries ‘Nuu-chah-nulth', including annotations of a copy of Sapir's field notebook, and a long paper on Nuu-chah-nulth aspect. Haas also authored works including "The Structure of Stems and Roots in Nootka-Nitinat", notes for which are in Series 2.

Description: Tonkawa features in several lexica, including a Swadesh list and comparisons with other languages. Most prominent of these is a dedicated lexical slip file of between 450 and 900 slip files (Series 9) and correspondence with Karl-Heinz Gursky that includes comparisons with Yana and Karuk (Series 1). Other items of note include an index of Harry Hoijer's "An Analytical Dictionary of the Tonkawa Language" from 1949, with corrections in marginalia, and comparative phonology between neighboring languages by Morris Swadesh, both in Series 2.
