Description: The Achumawi materials in the ACLS collection are primarily located in the "Achumawi" section of the finding aid, with some also in the "Atsugewi" section (specifically item H1a.2, "Parallel Achumawi and Atsugewi texts"). They include a word list from the Pit River area; autobiographies of Willard Carmony, an Achumawi speaker, whose stories refers to being sent to Fort Bidwell Indian Boarding School; linguistic analysis of Achumawi's relationship to the Hokan language family; conversational texts in the Achumawi language; free English translations; and grammars. Also included are notes on dialectical differences between Atwamdzini, Hammawi, and Adzumawi.

Description: The Wiyot materials in the ACLS collection consists of two items. In the "Algonkian" section, "Classification of Algonkin languages" (item A.1) provides a list of Algonquian languages and bands, showing which are dormant and which are extant and approximate number of speakers as of 1935. This item includes an attached note of Edward Sapir to Morris Swadesh on revision in classification of Wiyot and Yurok. In this same section there is also "Wiyot-Yurok and Algonkian comparisons" (item A.2), a list sent by Frank Speck to Edward Sapir to supplement information published by Sapir in 1913.

Description: Two items relating to the Wiyot language have been identified in the C. F. Voegelin Papers. Both are in Subcollection II. Edward Sapir briefly mentions Wiyot kinship terms in the context of his work on Blackfoot in a letter in Series I. Correspondence. More extensively, there are also Wiyot examples in a comparative vocabulary of California tribes (with words from from Hupa, Wiyot, Karuk, Shasta, Achumawi, Atsugewi, Konkow, Yana, Wintu, Maidu, and Modoc) in Series II. Description: The Yana materials in the ACLS collection consist of multiple items in the "Yana" section of the finding aid. These predominantly consist of vocabularies, grammatical notes, and other linguistic analyses. Included among them are 25 notebooks recorded by Edward Sapir, with accompanying vocabulary files, along with additional shorter materials by Kroeber, and derivative work by Swadesh. All of these were recorded from knowledge given by Ishi, known as the speaker of Yana.
