Description: The Yana materials in the ACLS collection consist of multiple items in the "Yana" section of the finding aid. These predominantly consist of vocabularies, grammatical notes, and other linguistic analyses. Included among them are 25 notebooks recorded by Edward Sapir, with accompanying vocabulary files, along with additional shorter materials by Kroeber, and derivative work by Swadesh. All of these were recorded from knowledge given by Ishi, known as the speaker of Yana.

Description: The Yana (or Yahi) materials in the Harvey Pitkin Papers contain miscellaneous materials collected by Ishi of the Yana tribe in Series III, notebooks by T.T. Waterman in Series III-A, Yahi place names collected by Ishi and A.L. Kroeber in Sereies III-C, and phonetic tracings made on a kymograph of Yahi words recorded by Ishi in Series III-D.
