Description: The Tolowa materials in the ACLS collection consist primarily of 18 field notebooks withh information from informants from Burnt Rock and Smith River Island, California. Includes lexical items, paradigms, songs, museum specimens, texts, historical narratives, ethnological data, and names for material-culture objects. These can be found in the "Tolowa" section of the finding aid. See also "Field notes in California Athabascan languages" located in the "Athapaskan" section of the finding aid, which contains additional stories.

Description: The Tolowa material in James Crawford's "Recordings of Native American languages" collection consists of one audio tape copy from Harry Hoijer made with speakers Sam Lopez and Mandy Lopez. It contains one recording of a word and phrase list, and four songs. (NOTE: This material has been digitized and can be accessed online for free by users not physically at the APS Library through a login and password. Description: The most significant item in Mary Haas' small Tolowa file is the back of a Yurok field notebook from 1966 with a consultant named only as “Lulu” (Series 2 Subseries ‘Yurok'). There is also a dedicated lexical file of likely over 1000 slips, by an unknown author, and some playing card terms from a Mattole lexical slip file, both in Series 9, as well as occasional comparisons with Californian languages elsewhere in the collection.

Description: In 1962 William Bright conducted a small amount of fieldwork on Tolowa and Yurok. His Tolowa consultant was Etta Lopez, then 97 years old, and the field notebook can be found in Series 3 Subseries 1. He also collected newspaper clippings on Tolowa speakers and researchers (Series 2).
