Description: Materials relating to Radin's study of Zapotec languages, located in Series V and Series VIII. Includes a variety of materials, such as word lists, lexical slips, bibliographical notes, grammatical notes, texts (often with interlinear translations), and a Spanish-Zapotec dictionary comprised of about 15,000 slips, as well as materials for a Spanish-Zapotec lexicon and a Spanish-Zapotec vocabulary. Many of the pages are labelled with the name of a town or district in Oaxaca. One informant mentioned: Felipe Castellana, associated with Mitla. Description: The Zuni material in the ACLS collection consists of 2 items found in the "Zuni" section of the finding aid. The first is a field notebook (item Zu.1) recorded by Franz Boas with vocabularies and shorthand ethnographic notes, subsequently transcribed elsewhere. The second item is a lexicon (item Zu.2) of approximately 7000 word slips by Ruth Bunzel arranged alphabetically and also by grammatical categories. This lexicon appears based on field notes not at the APS.
