Description: Two items relating to the Purépecha (Tarascan) language have been identified in the C. F. Voegelin Papers. They are both in Subcollection I, and consist of Alan C. Ware's essay "Suffixation in Tarascan" (1956) in Series IV. Works by Others; and a "Tarascan" folder containing linguistic notes and notes on secondary materials in Series V. Description: William Bright's original work on Purépecha was the recording of lexical and grammatical elictations with consultants Odelon Aparacio and Rafaela de la Cruz, Ichupio, Michoacan, Mexico (Series 3 Subseries 1). Bright also analyzed its verbal morphology and discussed the borrowing of the word "tarascan" into Nahuatl (Series 1).
