William Bright's original work on Purépecha was the recording of lexical and grammatical elictations with consultants Odelon Aparacio and Rafaela de la Cruz, Ichupio, Michoacan, Mexico (Series 3 Subseries 1). Bright also analyzed its verbal morphology and discussed the borrowing of the word "tarascan" into Nahuatl (Series 1).
