Description: Materials relating to Radin's study of Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) history, culture, and language. Some items are written in Ho-Chunk, with and without English translations. This large collection includes 34 original field notebooks; numerous short and long stories (Hare cycle, Aleck Linetree [probably Alec Lone Tree], the origin of the Buffalo clan, the story of the holy one, the boy who wished to be immortal, etc.); several longer pieces, such as a typed manuscript titled "The legend of Mother-of-all-the-Earth," speeches of Charlie Houghton, multiple versions of "How Blowsnake joined the medicine dance," "Origin myth of the medicine dance," etc.; several published secondary sources; over 3,000 slips for an English-Winnebago [i.e. Ho-Chunk] dictionary and other items relating to Ho-Chunk phonetics, lexicon, linguistics, etc.; several phonetic texts, some with English translation; and a variety of other items with ethnographic, historical, and linguistic data pertaining to ceremonies, tales, clans, medicine, origins, dance, burial, peyote, names, and sweat-baths. Description: This collection consists of audio recordings of Larry Aitken (Bezhigoogahbow), a distinguished Ojibwe elder, teacher, and traditional knowledge keeper of Leech Lake, Minnesota. The recordings include numerous public speeches, classroom lectures and discussions, and interviews on Anishinaabe spiritual teachings, health, psychology, cultural strength, history, and language. A number of recordings were made with Aitken's teacher, Jim Jackson, a medicine man and traditional knowledge keeper with whom Aitken worked for 17 years.

Description: A radio program in a 5-part series on the Haudenosaunee produced in 1967 by Bill Siemering (later a co-founder of NPR) at WBFO at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Each episode is based around interviews conducted at Tuscarora Reservation and Tonawanda with various Haudenosaunee people, including Mad Bear, Corbett Sundown, and Mr. and Mrs. Duffy Wilson. The five episodes are "Early History," "Trails of Tears," "Indian Affairs," "Religion," and "Legends and Speeches." Description: Linguistic field recordings of the Quileute language made by Eric Hamp, based on Manuel J. Andrade's "Quileute Texts" (Columbia University Press, 1931.) The recordings consist of Hamp reading back from Andrade's transcription of Quileute texts to Beatrice Black, a Quileute-speaking consultant, who repeats them in the correct pronunciation, provides explanation, and suggests corrections. Includes occasional discussions in English, with some infrequent English translations of the text. Texts included are primarily Quileute legends and folklore, with some speeches and descriptions of Quileute life, customs, and history. Recorded at Taholah, Washington, in August 1969. Field recordings made in Chiapas in Tzotzil communities including Chamula, Chenalhó, San Cristóbal de las Casas, and Zinacantán. These recordings include research conducted in relation to Bricker's book "Ritual Humor in Highland Chiapas." These include recordings of ritual humor and performances surrounding religious festivals, joke texts, songs, and Tzotzil language exercises.
