Description: The Otomi materials in the ACLS collection consist of materials mainly in the "Otomi" section of the finding aid. Key items includes Radin's "Grammatical sketch of Otomi" (item OtO.1) and "Otomi-English dictionary" (item OtO.2), based upon the Toluca dialect (Temoaya Otomi). Also in this section are the "Sintesis de la discusion en el consejo de lenguas indigenas sobre el alfabeto Otomi" (item OtO.3) and a brief vocabulary by Sapir (item OtO.4). In the “Mexico” section of the finding aid, see “Comparative vocabularies of various Indian languages of Mexico” (item AM5), which includes Otomi vocabulary, and McQuown's “Phonemic systems of various Indian languages of Mexico” (AM3), which includes Otomi information.

Description: Two items relating to the Odawa (Ottawa) language have been identified in the C. F. Voegelin Papers. They are both in Subcollection I. They consist of an "Ottawa" file with several pages of handwritten linguistic notes in Series V. Research Notes, Subseries V-A: Language Notes; and a file labeled "Williams, Angeline--Genealogy" with genealogical information about the Williams family in Series V. Research Notes, Subseries V-C: Other. Angeline Williams was an Odawa language consultant who worked with C. F. Voegelin, Erminine Wheeler-Voegelin, and Leonard Bloomfield, and participated in a field methods course taught by Voegelin and Bloomfield.

Includes a petit catechisme, a literal, page-by-page translation into Ottawa of the "Catechisme des fetes principales de l'annee publie a Chartres par Etienne Massot le Jeune en 1683"; and "Racines de la langue 8ta8aise et algonquine," A to S only. The last 56 pages of the latter contain "Instructions sur les exhortations relatives aux commandements" while the cover reads "Instruction sur les symboles."
