Description: Materials relating to Radin's study of the Wappo language. Consists of four notebooks, titled "Wappo linguistics [IV, V, VI, and VII-VIII]," containing text in Wappo and, in at least one case, some interlinear translation. Notebook IV contains a brief section of conjugations, 180-183; and genealogy, 184-185. Radin's note, 1947, indicates that part of the material was published. See also Radin (1929a).

Description: The Wasco-Wishram materials in the ACLS collection are in multiple sections of the finding aid. The largest single item is a multi-part lexical file of over 22,000 cards including vocabulary, paradigms, and other linguistic data, assembled from the work of Sapir, Dyk, and Hymes, in the "Wasco" section (item Pn4a.10). These appear to be copied from originals, the location of which is not known. The "Wishram" section contains several short files including on Wishram place names, Wishram directional elements, grammatical notes, and ethnographic notes. In the "Chinook" section, see Boas' "Field notes on Chinookan and Salishan languages and Gitamat, Molala, and Masset" (item Pn4b.5), notebooks 1 and 2 of which include Wasco texts and vocabulary recorded in 1890. "Field notes on Tillamook and Chinookan dialects" (item S4.1) also includes additional vocabularies and texts. The "Chinook" section may contain additional Wasco-Wishram materials not presently distinguished from other Chinookan language materials.

Description: The only identified Washo materials in the ACLS collection are found in the "Iowa (Chiwere)" section of the finding aid, under the large item "Materials for a study of the Iowa Indian language" (item X4a.2). Part 17 consists of correspondence with Gordon Marsh regarding research on Iowa-Oto and Washo, some wordlists, research notes on plants and fish names, and published material. This has been digitized.

Description: One item relating to the Washo language has been identified in the C. F. Voegelin Papers. It is in Subcollection II, and consists of a folder of William H. Jacobsen's Washo materials in Series II. Research Notes, Subseries V. Hokan. These materials include a mimeograph of a typewritten phoneme inventory, noun and verb stems, and references, and was sent to Voegelin (and other "Hokanists") by Jacobsen in October 1969.
