Description: The Tolowa materials in the ACLS collection consist primarily of 18 field notebooks with information from informants from Burnt Ranch and Smith River Island, California. Includes lexical items, paradigms, songs, museum specimens, texts, historical narratives, ethnological data, and names for material-culture objects. These can be found in the "Tolowa" section of the finding aid as item Na20f.1. There are also some stories in "Field notes in California Athabascan languages" (item Na.2), located in the "Athapaskan" section of the finding aid.

Description: The most significant item in Mary Haas' small Tolowa file is the back of a Yurok field notebook from 1966 with a consultant named only as “Lulu” (Series 2 Subseries ‘Yurok'). There is also a dedicated lexical file of likely over 1000 slips, by an unknown author, and some playing card terms from a Mattole lexical slip file, both in Series 9, as well as occasional comparisons with Californian languages elsewhere in the collection.

Description: The most significant item in William Bright's small Tongva file is correspondence with Raleigh H. Levine (Series 1), concerning interpretations of a J. P. Harrington manuscript for a tribal land rights case. Extensive correspondence with Pamela Munro between the 1990s and 2000s includes a small amount of linguistic discussion on Tongva. There are also vocabularies from J. P. Harrington in Bright's research (Series 4) and a publication by the Malki Museum Press (Series 2).

Description: Tonkawa features in several lexica, including a Swadesh list and comparisons with other languages. Most prominent of these is a dedicated lexical slip file of between 450 and 900 slip files (Series 9) and correspondence with Karl-Heinz Gursky that includes comparisons with Yana and Karuk (Series 1). Other items of note include an index of Harry Hoijer's "An Analytical Dictionary of the Tonkawa Language" from 1949, with corrections in marginalia, and comparative phonology between neighboring languages by Morris Swadesh, both in Series 2.
