Description: The Cayuga materials in the Lounsbury Papers are located primarily in the "Cayuga" section of Series II, which contains extensive field notes and transcriptions made by both Lounsbury and Michael Foster of Cayuga stories and speeches given by Alexander General, Howard Skye, and Mrs. George Green, along with related discussions. See also Series VII, Audio Recordings, which includes some recordings featuring the Thanksgiving Address and the Condolence ceremony. See also correspondence in Series I, which includes Michael K. Description: Linguistic and cultural fieldwork about songs associated with the Crow Dance of the Northern Arapaho and its relation to the Ghost Dance and other tribes' dances. Consists of linguistic and cultural analysis and transcription of 16 pre-recorded songs sung by Fred Gone, Sr. an with Arapaho consultant, William C'Hair. Also includes extensive discussion of Arapaho customs and ceremonies. Recorded in Arapahoe, Wyoming on 18 July 1995. Description: The Haudenosaunee materials in the Lounsbury Papers are vast in scope ranging from ceremonial recordings in Series VII to secondary sources in Series II to Lounsbury's own linguistic work among the Haudenosaunee (see notes on Mohawk, Cayuga, Seneca, Oneida, and Onondaga materials). The correspondence, in Series I, includes notes by Marius Barbeau on six Iroquoian language varieties, a recording of the Condolence Ceremony recited by George Thomas, Gordon Day's work on Iroquois place names in Vermont, William Fenton's work on Iroquois-Cherokee linguistic relations, a manuscript of Mary Haas' comments on FGL's "Iroquois-Cherokee Linguistic Relations," George Harnell's work on Iroquois culture, Gunther Michelson's work on Iroquois place names, James Pendergast's study of longhouse construction and LaSalle's 1669-1670, Morris Swadesh's notes on the Caughnawaga Iroquois in Brooklyn, NY, Elisabeth Tooker on Iroquois cosmology, a manuscript of Iroquois grammar by Carl Voeglin, William Wykoff's study of Iroquois prehistory.

Description: The Lenape (or "Delaware") materials in the Siebert collection can be found in Series IV, V, VII. Original notes can be found in Series V: Notebooks, in the folders "Delaware Texts" and "Munsee Field Notes from Nicodemus Peters, Smoothtown, Six Nations' Reserve, Ontario" from 1938. Many of the other materials are from secondary sources. Of interest is geographic diversity of Delaware materials ranging from Willy Longbones in Oklahoma to the Munsee speakers in Ontario. There are also a number of Munsee recordings in Series XII.

Description: This entry refers only to Seminole cultural materials. For linguistic materials, see Creek and Mikasuki entries. In 1973-1974, Mary Haas visited the Seminole Bilingual Project in Ada, Oklahoma, making extensive of audio recordings of the meetings of the project (Series 10, all available in the Digital Library), and attending and photographing ceremonies (Series 11). Haas also acquired a number of books from the Seminole Bilingual Project, and made notes on the language variety spoken in Seminole County, Oklahoma, from the same trip, all found in Series 2 Subseries 'Creek'. Additionally there are occasional offprints and drafts of others' papers on Florida Seminole.

Description: The Seneca materials in the ACLS collection consist primarily of materials found in the "Seneca" section of the finding aid. This section includes Seneca vocabulary and grammatical notes recorded by Marius Barbeau at Grand River (item I1e.1), as well as texts, audio recordings, and grammatical notes recorded by Zellig Harris (items I1e.2 and I1e.3). In the "Algonkian" section, Sapir's "Notes on Seneca, Mohawk, Delaware, Tutelo, Abenaki, Malecite, Micmac, Montagnais, and Cree [and Algonquian]" (item I1.2) includes brief vocabulary and texts in Seneca from Grand River in 1911. In the "Iroquois" section, some information on Seneca speakers and language are found in Hickerson's "Material on Iroquois dialects" (item I1.3), a study of Iroquoian languages.
