Description: The Quileute collection in the ACLS collection consists of a large body of materials located primarily in the "Quileute" section of the finding aid. These materials were recorded primarily by Albert Reagan, Leo Frachtenberg, and Manuel Andrade. Reagan was an Indian agent and teacher at the Quileute Day School. His materials (item W3a.10, "Quileute ethnology"), dated from 1908-1913, primarily include drawing made by students at the Quileute Day School. These images include pencil and ink sketches, color crayon drawings, watercolors, and gelatin silver prints of utensils, canoes, drums, rattles, toys, arrows, masks, totems, and decorative patterns. Frachtenberg's materials date from roughly 1915 to 1922 and contain detailed ethnographic and linguistic information, split up into several different listed items. Andrade's work followed shortly after Frachtenberg and concerns primarily linguistic information and additional stories. Arthur Howeattle is a prominent Quileute consultant for some of these items. Some additional materials comparing the Quileute and Chemakum languages can be found in the "Chimakum" section of the finding aid (items W3b.1, W3b.2, and W3b.4), as well as comparisons of Quileute and Nuu-chah-nulth in the "Nootka" section of the finding aid (item W2a.13).

Description: The collection includes English interviews with multiple Yuchi Indians on various topics, such as genealogy, Yuchi history, relations with the U.S. government, hunting and fishing, local churches, and tribal government. One tape records a Yuchi language class and planning meeting with numerous informal conversations. This collection also includes recordings of Green Corn Dance, Polecat Arbor Dance, Evening Dances, Ribbon Dance, and other performances. Recorded by Pamela Wallace at Kellyville, Sapulpa, Coweta, Glencoe, and Hectorville, Oklahoma in June and July of 1994. Description: The Walter Dyk Collection consists of 16 folders relating to Dyk's dissertation research on Wishram, 1930-1933, donated to the APS by Dell Hymes in the 1980s (with additions transferred from the Dell H. Hymes Papers in 2019). It includes copies of his masters thesis (Chicago, 1931) and dissertation (Yale, 1933), papers and notes sent to Dell Hymes in the mid-1950s when Hymes was working on the language, including two field notebooks, Hymes' plans for use of these and other materials, and a small but important set of correspondence. The correspondence includes letters to Dyk from Philip Kahclamet, who was Dyk's primary consultant for "Kikct" (which Kahclamet identifies as a broad term for several related varieties), and who later worked with Hymes; from Edward Sapir to Dyk, including a very long and detailed letter commenting on phonology in Dyk's dissertation; and a series of letters to Sapir from Peter McGuff, Sapir's Wishram consultant at Fort Simcoe, Washington, 1906-1908. Sapir described him in Sapir (1909), and Michael Silverstein discussed him in Natural Histories of Discourse (1996), a volume co-edited by Silverstein and Greg Urban.
