Description: The Kalispel materials in the Lounsbury Papers consists primarily of Allan Smith's 1936-1938 typewritten field notes from the Kalispel Reservation, found in Series II, which comprises 11 folders totaling roughly 2000 pages, covering a broad range of Kalispel ethnographic information. In Series I, see correspondence folders of Edward Sapir and Leslie Spier, which include reports sent to them of Kalispel fieldwork, and two photographs of Kalispel men identified as Blind Paul and Michel Ignace.

Description: Three items relating to Keresan languages and associated pueblos have been identified in the C. F. Voegelin Papers. They are all located in Subcollection II. They include correspondence with Joel M. Maring regarding Eastern and Western Keresan and Hopi in Series. I. Correspondence; and two stories from Cochiti ("Salt Woman Gets No Food at Cochiti" and "Arrow Boy and Eagle Girls") and one from Santo Domingo ("Turkey Girl") in the Southwestern Indian Tales category of Series III. Works by Voegelin, Subseries II: American Indian Tales for Children. The Keresan-speaking pueblos are also represented on Harry Tschopik's map of "Indian Languages in New Mexico, A.D. 1600" (1938) in Subseries V: American Indian Languages. This final item has been digitized and is available through the APS's Digital Library. Other portions of this material may be restricted due to potential cultural sensitivity.

The Meadows material is his "Ethnohistorical Research on Southern Plains Military Societies," which partially concerns Kiowa Apache socieities such as the Manatidie/Blackfeet Society and includes transcripts summarizing interviews found in a related audio collection.

Description: This is an ethnographic study of traditional Squamish use of land animals (mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians) as resources, co-authored by Randall (Randy) T. Bouchard and Dorothy I. D. Kennedy. Photographs by Kennedy accompany the text to show uses of tools by the Squamish people of Northern Vancouver as applied to the species discussed. Description: The Kwakwaka'wakw materials in the ACLS collection are located predominantly in the "Kwakiutl" section of the finding aid, which contains a full listing of all materials (other relevant sections are "Northwest Coast", "Bella Bella (Heitsuk)", and item AfBnd.4 in "Non-American and non-linguistic material"). Some of the larger individual sets of materials listed within this section also have their own specific tables of contents (available upon request) detailing their often highly diverse contents. Overall, the vast majority of the material is made of of 1) manuscripts sent to Boas by George Hunt from the 1890s to the 1930s, frequently in both Kwak'wala and English, covering a very broad range of Kwakwaka'wakw history, culture, languages, customs, and traditions; and 2) field work materials recorded by Boas and Boas' own analyses of material sent by Hunt, covering a similar range of topics. Additional materials by other individuals focus especially on linguistic and ethnographic matters. Description: The C. F. Voegelin Papers contain correspondence, card files, notes, notebooks, texts, translations, drafts, articles, maps, and other linguistic and ethnographic materials relating to Delaware (Lenape) language and culture. Many of these items pertain to Voegelin's "Walam Olum or Red Score: The Migration Legend of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians," published by the Indiana Historical Society in 1954. Such materials are located in primarily in Subcollection I. There is relevant correspondence with Charles Hockett (with questions about Voegelin's article on Delaware and examples from other Algonquian languages), Eli Lilly (regarding various aspects of the Walam Olum, its interpretation and publication), Kenneth E. Pearson (regarding use of Delaware language in Boy Scout ceremonies), John N.
