This includes Turner's dissertation, "Highland Chontal Grammar," which includes interlinear texts of stories on a related recording collection. "Highland Chontal Dialect Survey" provides a detailed account of a project of Turner's for which there is an accompanying audio collection, listed separately in this guide. Description: Two items by Mexican linguist Francisco Belmar. The first item, "Las lenguas habladas por Los Indigenos and Indian tribes of the state of Oaxaca and their languages," includes a lengthy exposition on Mexican languages, emphasizing relationships with, and discussing Mixe, Zoque, Chontal, and Chochotec (intended for delivery at a session of the International Congress of Americanists, 1895, but never delivered) and a pencil draft of Belmar (1902) [See also Belmar (1902)]. The second item, "Curso de Lengua Mixe," is a brief elementary textbook for teaching Mixe to Spanish speakers, complete with exercises, texts, and lexical comments.
