Description: The Ho-Chunk materials in the ACLS collection consists primarily of three items in the "Winnebago (Ho-Chunk)" section of the finding aid. The bulk of the material is Amelia Susman's 11 field notebooks (item X5.2), which contains texts with interlinear translation, Vocabularies, ethnographical and linguistic notes, and some songs. Two additional items also by Susman are extended analyses based upon field work with Sam Blowsnake and his unnamed wife: "The accentual system of Winnebago" (item X5.1) and "The Winnebago syllabary" (item X5.3). In the "Chiwere (Iowa)" section of the finding aid, Gordon Marsh's "Materials for a study of the Iowa Indian language" (item X4a.2) include some Ho-Chunk grammatical notes, and Ho-Chunk cognates with Chiwere. Lastly, in the "Dakota" section, Franz Boas' "Miscellaneous Dakota notes" (item X8a.3) includes a Dakota-Ho-Chunk comparative word list.

Description: The Kathlamet materials in the ACLS collection consist of items in two sections of the finding aid. In the "Chinook" section, Boas' notebooks 1, 2, and 4 of Field notes on Chinookan and Salishan languages and Gitamat, Molala, and Masset" (item Pn4b.5) contain texts, ethnographic information, and grammatical notes. In the same section, Boas' "Miscellaneous notes on Chinookan languages" (item Pn4.1) includes a text in an unidentified language and fragmentary slips of Chinook-Kathlamet comparisons. In the "Kathlamet" section, there is an additional field notebook by Boas (item Pn4a.8), and two large, separate lexicons derived in part from his fieldwork (items Pn4a.2 and Pn4a.3).

Description: The Puyallup materials in the ACLS collection consist of materials in multiple sections of the finding aid. In the "Puyallup" section, Aginsky's "Puyallup texts" (item S2e.1) contain texts with interlinear translations, analyses of vocabulary, and other grammatical notes. In the "Chehalis" section, there is Aginsky's "Comparison of Puyallup and Chehalis" (item S.9). In the "Chinook" section, Notebook 3 of Boas' "Field notes on Chinookan and Salishan languages and Gitamat, Molala, and Masset" (item Pn4b.5) contains Puyallup vocabulary and ethnographic notes, some of which are in German shorthand. In the "Nooksack" section, there is a comparative vocabulary of Coast Salish languages (item S.8), including Puyallup terms, also identified as "sXúλ'babš" which may be Homamish.

Description: The Seneca materials in the ACLS collection consist primarily of materials found in the "Seneca" section of the finding aid. This section includes Seneca vocabulary and grammatical notes recorded by Marius Barbeau at Grand River (item I1e.1), as well as texts, audio recordings, and grammatical notes recorded by Zellig Harris (items I1e.2 and I1e.3). In the "Algonkian" section, Sapir's "Notes on Seneca, Mohawk, Delaware, Tutelo, Abenaki, Malecite, Micmac, Montagnais, and Cree [and Algonquian]" (item I1.2) includes brief vocabulary and texts in Seneca from Grand River in 1911. In the "Iroquois" section, some information on Seneca speakers and language are found in Hickerson's "Material on Iroquois dialects" (item I1.3), a study of Iroquoian languages.

In the "Hupa" section of the finding aid, Goddard's "Field notes in California Athabascan languages" (item Na.2) include Sinkyone ethnographic materials of undetermined extent, pending creation of detailed contents listing.

Description: The Zapotec materials in the ACLS collection are located primarily in the "Zapotec" section of the finding aid, which includes a detailed listing. The bulk of the materials were recorded and assembled by Jaime de Angulo and Morris Swadesh. De Angulo's materials include texts with Spanish and English translations, with accompanying linguistic notes, and studies proposing relationship among languages of Oaxaca. Swadesh's materials include vocabularies in multiple varieties of Zapotec with accompanying linguistic analyses. Currently only the three Zapotec languages given above in this listing can be specifically identified based upon information on locations where they were recorded. There are additional Zapotec languages of an undetermined quantity in this materials that are currently only identified in the cataloging according to regional terms such as Mountain and Valley dialects, Ixtlán, and Villa Alta. Some additional comparative materials utilizing Zapotec data can also be found in the "Mexico" (items AM3 and AM5) and "Mixtec" (item MiM.1) sections of the finding aid.
