Description: Materials relating to James M. Crawford's interest in and study of the Kiliwa language. Items include card-sized paper slips, Kiliwa-English and English-Kiliwa, with pencilled notes, in Series V. drafts (with edits), handwritten notes, and page proofs of Crawford's review of "Kiliwa Dictionary" by Mauricio J. Mixco [1986] in Series III-D. Works by Crawford--Other; and a 1958 Kiliwa Word List in Series IV-D. Research Notes & Notebooks--Other, which consists of five pages of typed words in English (sometimes also Spanish) with handwritten Kiliwa equivalents. The language consultant was Rufino Uchurte, aged 63, resident of Arroyo Leon, half Paipai and half Kiliwa, and speaker of both languages. Recorder was anthropologist and linguist Judith Joël Hicks. Series I. Correspondence also contains a postcard from Dwight Good with a brief query about an unknown people compared to Kiliwa.

Description: Mary Haas' Koasati file is quite extensive. Field notes from the 1930s can be found in Series 2 Subseries ‘Multiple Languages' and ‘Koasati', and include several interlinear texts, notably a transcription of a handwritten letter in the language between Jackson Langley and Louisa Carson. Notes on Haas' Oklahoma consultants also feature in Series 2. There are several versions of a 124-page typeset dictionary with no attribution, also in Series 2. A great many lexical slips can be found in Series 9, as well as a 575+ item wordlist in Series 2, with frequent comparison to Muskogean and “Gulf” languages as part of Haas' historical linguistics efforts. In addition there are many works by others on Koasati, in Series 8.

Description: The most significant items in Mary Haas' small Ktunaxa (Kutenai) file are two interlinear texts with English glosses and lemma notes, and work toward an article titled “Is Kutenai related to Algonkian?”. Items include 2 typed drafts (with pencilled edits) and page proofs of Crawford's review of "A Grammar of Diegueño Nominals" by Larry Paul Gorbet [1978]; and handwritten and typed drafts (with penned edits) and page proofs of Crawford's lengthy and positive review in Lingua of "A Grammar of Diegueño, the Mesa Grande Dialect" by Margaret Langdon [1972]. Both folders containing these review materials are located in Series III-D. Works by Crawford--Other. There is also an undated notebook titled "Diegueño" in Series IV-D. Description: The C. F. Voegelin Papers contain correspondence, card files, notes, notebooks, texts, translations, drafts, articles, maps, and other linguistic and ethnographic materials relating to Delaware (Lenape) language and culture. Many of these items pertain to Voegelin's "Walam Olum or Red Score: The Migration Legend of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians," published by the Indiana Historical Society in 1954. Such materials are located in primarily in Subcollection I. There is relevant correspondence with Charles Hockett (with questions about Voegelin's article on Delaware and examples from other Algonquian languages), Eli Lilly (regarding various aspects of the Walam Olum, its interpretation and publication), Kenneth E.
