Description: The Arapaho materials in the ACLS collection consist of three items found in the "Arapaho" section of the finding aid. "Arapaho texts" (item A4.2), recorded by Salzmann, includes a sample of field notes with linguistic notes and texts collected at the Wind River Reservation, Wyoming, some of which were printed in 1958. There is also a brief manuscript, "Sapir on Arapaho" (item A4.1) listing linguistic correspondences, and a short lexical file also by Sapir (item A4.1a).

Description: The C. F. Voegelin Papers contain correspondence, card files, notes, notebooks, texts, translations, drafts, articles, maps, and other linguistic and ethnographic materials relating to Delaware (Lenape) language and culture. Many of these items pertain to Voegelin's "Walam Olum or Red Score: The Migration Legend of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians," published by the Indiana Historical Society in 1954. Such materials are located in primarily in Subcollection I. There is relevant correspondence with Charles Hockett (with questions about Voegelin's article on Delaware and examples from other Algonquian languages), Eli Lilly (regarding various aspects of the Walam Olum, its interpretation and publication), Kenneth E. Pearson (regarding use of Delaware language in Boy Scout ceremonies), John N. Seaman (regarding language consultant Willy Longbone), Frank Siebert (regarding Walam Olum, Munsee materials, language consultants Willy Longbone, Nicodemus Peters, and Nicholas Powless), Morris Swadesh (including a brief Stockbridge vocabulary and a slip of Moravian Delaware), and John Witthoft (regarding Walam Olum) in Series I. Description: The Tarascan materials in the ACLS collection consists of items found in the "Tarascan" section of the finding aid. "Tarascan ethnologic and linguistic notes" (item Ta.2) contains linguistic forms, terms for parents, vocabulary of 600 items, list of names of natural and cultural objects, and interviews and material on land division and agriculture. There is also a Purépecha-Spanish lexical file of over 1000 word slips (item Ta.1), plus brief additional writings (items Ta.3 and Ta.4), including a handbook for writing the language. In the “Mexico” section of the finding aid, see “Comparative vocabularies of various Indian languages of Mexico” (item AM5), which includes Purépecha vocabulary.
