Description: The Achumawi materials in the ACLS collection are primarily located in the "Achumawi" section of the finding aid, with some also in the "Atsugewi" section (specifically item H1a.2, "Parallel Achumawi and Atsugewi texts"). Description: The Atsugewi materials in the ACLS collection consist of several items found primarily in the "Atsugewi" section of the finding aid. Most are by Jaime de Angulo: "Conversational text in Atsugewi" (item H1b.2), "Mythological text in Atsugewi" (item H1b.3), and "The Atsugewi Language" (item H1b.1, a a manuscript grammar by Jaime de Angulo intended for comparison with the his study of "the Achumawi language," similar also to his grammar of Shasta in item H1c.1), and "Parallel Achumawi and Atsugewi Texts" (item H1a.2, in the Achumawi section). Description: The Chinanteco material in the ACLS collections are primarily found in the "Chinanteco" section of the finding aid. Two items are stories (Ch.1 and Ch.2, "El perrito de Teotitlan" and "Cuento del pescador", which identifies Yolox and Yetla varieties) recorded by Jaime de Angulo, with Spanish and English translation. Another item (Ch.3) is a 64-word Spanish-Chinantec vocabulary recorded by Norman McQuown. Two items in the "Mexico" section of the finding aid (items AM3 "Phonemic systems of various Indian languages of Mexico" and AM5 "Comparative vocabularies of various Indian languages of Mexico") contain comparative vocabularies that include Chinantec, as do two items in the "Mixtec" section (items MiM.1 "Mixtec tones and morphological comments" and MiM.2 "Mixtec and Chinantec lexicon", varieties of Mixtec unidentified), and "Zapotecan texts" (item Z.3) in the "Zapotec" section. The identification of varieties of Chinantec in most of the materials is undetermined.

Description: The Hokan materials in the ACLS collection consist mainly of two items in the "Hokan" section of the finding aid. The main item is Sapir's "Hokan-Siouan comparisons" lexical file (item H.3). This consists of comparisons among various families of the proposed Hokan-Siouan phylum. Dividers separate sections as follows: Hokan-Siouan (Yuki; Muskogean: Caddoan; Siouan; Hokan-type Coahuiltecan-Butiaba); Washo-Hokan; Hokan-Coahuiltecan; Yana-Hokan. It is subdivided by stems, grammatical categories, and occasionally by meaning. There is an additional brief document by Kroeber, item H.4 "Hokan compared with various Middle and South American languages", with wordlists of 21 English items with equivalents in Yuman, Hokan, Subtiaba, Xinca, Lenca, Chibcha, Guayom, Chibchan, Zoque, and Mixe, taken from published and unpublished sources. In the "Achumawi" section of the finding aid, there are two items by Jaime de Angulo examining the relationship of Achumawi to the proposed Hokan language family (items H.1 and H.2).

Description: The Maztec materials in the ACLS collection consist of items found in multiple sections of the finding aid. In the "Mazatec" section, "Cuento mazateco, contado por José Rosas" (OtM.1) includes a grammatical sketch and text, "Cuento de venado y de sapos," with free translations and grammatical notes. "Informe de la investigacion Mazateca" (item OtM.2) gives a summary of phonetics; report of field-work plans; outline of ethnographic problems. In the "Mexico" section of the finding aid, McQuown's "Phonemic systems of various Indian languages of Mexico" (item AM3) includes some Mazatec vocabulary, as does "Comparative vocabularies of various Indian languages of Mexico" (item AM5). In the "Zapotec" section, "Estudio gramatical de las lenguas de la familia zapoteca" (item Z.1) includes analysis of Mazatec, proposing its inclusion in the Zapotecan language family. The exact varieties of Mazatec are not identified.
